Today is the day that I landed in Germany, my home for the next year. My baggage got lost along the way somewhere but it is on the way to my host families home.
The ride home from the airport was definitely interesting. German people drive really fast but then they slam on the breaks to slow down all the time. Way different than I am used to. And they don't drive on the opposite side of the road.
When I got to my host families house, they showed me my room, and I think it's really cute! They hung a welcome sign on my wall and set a huge basket of candies on my bed. Milka:D
Later in the evening my host sister and her friends had a little party for me and it was really fun. Although, it was really hard to concentrate on anything because everyone was having their own conversation and speaking really fast in German. And I was falling asleep the whole time. It was really nice to get to know some of the people I am going to go to school with.
Tomorrow we are going to get my phone working and maybe hang out with some friends again. I really also need to shop for clothes and school supplies.
Later this week I will attend two other parties. I have been up for more than 24 hours now so I'm going to catch some sleep

Two Weeks...
I have exactly two weeks until I board a plane to Germany. I can't be more excited to begin my exchange year. I have finally started to pack up my life for the next eleven months into one suitcase.
I have been keeping in touch with my two host families, and they couldn't be happier to host me. My first host family includes my host dad, Dietrich, and Alisa, my 18-year old host sister. She is really sweet, and I think we will get along great. My second host family includes my host dad Elmar, and two sisters, Ayleen and Geena. Ayleen is 18, and she is going to live in Sugar Land, Texas at the same time I will live in her home. Geena is 13, the same age as my little sister. All of my family members can speak pretty fluent English, which will be helpful for me during the first few weeks when I am learning a lot of German.
Anyways, I will update again when I arrive safely in Germany, and I will post pictures of my new home for the year <3
